A bumpy flight, Singapore and rain

overcast 30 °C

I have now arrived at Singapore after the 13 hour flight from Heathrow. As many of you know I don't particularly like flying but I came out on the A380, a huge beast of a plane and very comfortable with fairly decent food and wine. Unfortunately with 5 hours left of the flight it did get very bumpy, we were over Pakistan at the time so can only imagine the mountains had something to do with it.

Once landed it was a slow slog through immigration and onto the efficient MRT rail system, also my first experience of the Singapore humidity, it was very warm while I was walking round trying to find my apartment for the few days I am here! Apartment found, it is small but has everything I could need and close to an MRT.

It was dark and raining by the time I had settled in so I went across the road to the Bugis Centre, a big shopping centre with a mix of market stalls, counterfeit everything and the standard shops. They have a hawker centre there with food stalls, meaning my dinner was a big plate of fried noodles at $4, bargain and delicious!

It is now 10pm here and after all the travelling etc I'm totally shattered now so this is everything for today :-)

Heathrow 19th January

Hi everyone

So here I am waiting at Heathrow airport for my flight to Singapore. Thanks to my lovely boyfriend Alex I am currently enjoying the delights of the BA club lounge at the airport with free drinks, sandwiches and cake. We also experienced the POD parking at Heathrow, highly recommended, park the car then jump in a small driverless cab for the short ride to T5.

It feels slightly surreal after all this planning that in a matter of hours I will be in a country much further away, I am looking forward to it once the flight is over, keep up to date with this page to see my updates.
